Why the time you play matters

Online poker liquidity is not evenly spread. A room with a couple of hundred players at peak may have a dozen at the quietest hour, and the difference decides whether your game runs at all — whether a table fills, whether a tournament reaches its guarantee, and how long you wait between hands. At a crypto room, which draws from a smaller and more scattered pool than the major fiat sites, the swing is wider still.

It also changes who you are playing against. The quietest hours are disproportionately populated by regulars and bots grinding whatever is running; the busiest hours pull in casual traffic. Most players care more about that than about the raw count, and the raw count is the only public proxy for it.

Reading the numbers below

Players online counts everyone connected, including people sitting out. Actively playing is the subset in hands, and it is the number that decides whether a game runs. A room can show a healthy connected count while very few tables are actually dealing.

All times are UTC, which matters more than it sounds: a room's peak is set by wherever its players live, not by your own clock. Convert before drawing conclusions.
